The Netgear R6400, also called the Netgear AC1750, provides an excellent range for a router of its price. We’re going to list a number of criteria for performance and then describe how the Netgear R6400 performed in each category. Let’s go!
For all the specifications of the Netgear AC1750, it has not got a lot going for it. It still does a stellar job in the range department, though.
When it comes to directivity, the R6400 does well. Directivity is basically the ability of a router to direct signals in a particular direction; in the user’s direction in this case.
This attribute depicts the ability of a router to locate a user and provide them with maximum signals. However, when it comes to MU-MIMO, the AC1750 falls behind.
It does not support MU-MIMO, which stands for Multi-User Multi Input Multi Output. This feature describes how well a router can simultaneously provide users with data at a reasonably fast rate.
The Netgear R6400 can be remotely reset. This comes in handy when you want to troubleshoot connection problems. The LED lights on its body can also be dimmed, but only via Netgear’s web interface.
Keeping accessibility aside, it is important to acknowledge the fact that at least this feature exists. IPV6 is also supported and the router has a guest network.

Another situation the Netgear AC1750 was tested in was the object test. A wall was brought between the router and the device; it went up to speeds of 37Mbit/s.
A medium distance test was also conducted, maintaining a distance of 11m between router and device. Like the previous test, both scenarios were taken into consideration.
Without obstruction, the Netgear AC1750 achieved speeds of 39Mbit/s, and with obstruction, it managed a surprising 40Mbit/s. Finally, the average 2.4 GHz performance speed clocked in at 22.3Mbit/s.
5 GHz Performance
Another important metric is the 5GHz performance. For simplicity, we have coupled the test speeds and presented them in a shorter format down below.
The long-distance test did not fare as well, as the Netgear AC1750 averaged around 17Mbit/s.
The one thing the Netgear AC1750 excels at is range. This router is a top-notch choice when it comes to the coverage area.
To put things into perspective, an access point can stream a 5-minute long YouTube video in HD (720p) as far as 65m away from the router. That is just insane.
The Netgear R6700, also known as the Nighthawk AC1750, is a great router when it comes to features. It is better than the R6400 when it comes to specifications. But how does it fare in other departments? Let’s find out.
The Nighthawk AC1750 excels at directing Wi-Fi signals in a user’s direction upon detection. It also does well at MU-MIMO, which is Multi-User Multi Input Multi Output.
Both these features are present which means that you are not going to face any issues even if multiple users are connected to the internet via this device.
IPv6 is supported, and settings can be tuned using the web interface. You can also use your smartphone for this purpose.
The LED light can be turned on using the web interface and it can also be mounted on the wall.
It also has 4 LAN ports and one 3.0 USB connection. Additionally, the Netgear Nighthawk AC1750 can be turned off using the mobile app or web interface. This allows for easy troubleshooting should one need it. A guest Wi-Fi network can also be setup.
If you’re looking for a practical router that is not complicated at all, you are in the right place. The Nighthawk AC1750 is a fine example, as it sets up without any difficulties.
The network interface does seem like it could do with an update, though. You also need to update the device firmware before you can begin using it. Parental control and QoS are great, too.

Additionally, the USB 3.0 port can be used for optimum network storage. A good external storage device can be connected to this port for some ridiculously good network storage performance.

The R7000 is a very versatile router. It takes very little time to set it up. A network cable and AC adapter along with a manual are included.
This helps aid the setup process even further. It allows guest Wi-Fi networks and has a lot of other features as well.
The Netgear R7000 is quite bulky, too. It is one of the biggest Wi-Fi routers out there.
Moreover, coupled with the huge AC adaptor, it makes for a large package. You will have to find ample space on a wall if you want to mount it.
When it came to performance, the R7000 was in a class of its own. At 5GHz, and around 1.5m away from the router, speeds of around 354Mbit/s were reached.
At 43m the speeds recorded were about 252Mbit/s. At 2.4GHz, speeds in the region of 91Mbit/s were clocked.
The Netgear R7000 is also the fastest router Netgear has to offer, with a dual-core processor that can reach a speed of 1GHz. It also has an OpenVPN server.
Third-party firmware is also supported in order to make it a more customizable experience for the user.
The range on this device is also great. Even when tested in places with lots of walls and other obstructive objects, the Netgear R7000 did a fine job of getting those precious Wi-Fi signals to an access point.
All in all, it is a very stable router that offers great features at a reasonable price. It is by far one of the best Wi-Fi routers out on the market right now.
All three of these routers cater to different types of people. If you are in it for the range, the R6400 is going to be your best friend.
If you want the best of both worlds, pick the R6700. For top-notch performance with a price, the R7000 will cater most to your desires. However, in our opinion, and we always focus on the common person – the R6700 takes the cake
